The purpose of this visit is to discuss ongoing and future collaborations, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities to strengthen ties between Saba and its partners in the Netherlands within the scope of Commissioner’s Heyliger's portfolio, which is mostly focused on the social domain.
During the visit, the delegation will meet with several Dutch ministries and key stakeholders to highlight and discuss important topics in this domain. These discussions aim to secure continued support and, where possible, additional funding for initiatives that directly benefit the Saban community.
“This visit provides an important opportunity to ensure that Saba’s priorities are well represented by engaging directly with our partners, where we can advocate for the needs of our island and continue to build meaningful collaborations,” said Commissioner Heyliger.
The Saba delegation will focus on a range of pressing and developmental topics, including:
Recognizing Emancipation Day as an official public holiday
Supporting improvements within Saba’s schools
Enhancing mental health services on the island
Job opportunities
Health Deal CN
In addition to ministerial meetings, the group will meet with Saban students currently studying in the Netherlands. These sessions will provide an opportunity to update students on developments at home, share future opportunities, and listen to their experiences particularly regarding challenges they face while studying abroad and considerations for returning to Saba after graduation.
Together, we can ensure that Saba’s voice is heard; by working collaboratively, we strengthen our ability to advocate for the issues that matter most to our island and our people.
Through this visit, Saba aims to further solidify its partnerships, promote mutual understanding, and continue building a stronger, more resilient community for the future.
