A Tropical Storm Watch remains active for Saba. Although the risk of tropical storm-force winds has dropped to approximately 10%, gusty conditions and rough surf are still possible. Jerry is forecast to pass around 160 miles northeast of both Saba and St. Eustatius, with its closest point of approach around 2:00 AM AST on Friday.
As Tropical Storm Jerry moves closer, unstable weather is expected to persist, with heavy rain likely from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening. Rainfall amounts between 2 and 4 inches could lead to flash flooding, rockslides, and dangerous lightning, especially in more vulnerable areas. Marine conditions are expected to deteriorate as well, with choppy seas and a low chance of wave heights reaching 8 to 10 feet, particularly by early Friday.
The harbor remains open. However, the Makana Ferry service has made schedule changes: Thursday’s (Oct. 9) departure is now at 2:00 PM, while Friday’s (Oct. 10) trip has been canceled. Ferry schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Contact Makana Ferry directly for the latest updates.
Residents are advised to exercise caution on the roads and disconnect electronics and appliances during thunderstorms to prevent lightning-related damage. Secure outdoor items such as trash bins.
Local officials are closely tracking the storm and will provide further information as needed.
