The weeklong event, held in New York City, featured dynamic presentations, strategic discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions aimed at shaping the future of Caribbean tourism.
Although Saba is not currently a CTO member, the event presented a valuable opportunity for dialogue and potential collaboration. Director of Tourism, Ms. Malinda Hassell, met with Mrs. Dona Regis-Prosper, Secretary-General and CEO of the CTO, to explore the benefits of membership. These include access to regional programs, certifications, knowledge exchange, trainings, comprehensive tourism data and marketing.
Key highlights of Caribbean Week 2025 included:
· Updates from Caribbean tourism partners
· The launch and progress of CTO's “Reimagine” Plan
· Panels on the Orange Economy Caribbean Tourism Exchange
· Strategic discussions on aviation and cruise tourism
Saba also joined St. Kitts to present an update on the “Four Islands, One Escape” initiative, a collaborative regional tourism campaign in partnership with Makana Ferry. This initiative promotes island hopping, regional tourism unity, and deeper collaboration between neighboring destinations. A formal media launch will follow once the campaign is finalized.
SKIFT - DATA and AI Summit
Additionally, the Saba Tourist Bureau attended the DATA and AI Summit, organized by SKIFT, which focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and the travel industry. Industry leaders shared valuable insights on how AI is revolutionizing operations, enhancing customer experiences, and driving growth.
“The travel industry is entering a new era, AI is no longer just a buzzword,” said Director Malinda Hassell. “It’s becoming a powerful tool for improving decision-making, enhancing visitor experiences, and increasing operational efficiency. While technology is advancing quickly, the human touch that defines Caribbean hospitality remains irreplaceable. Our challenge is to embrace innovation without losing our unique identity.”
Saba’s participation in Caribbean Week 2025 reflects its ongoing commitment to sustainable tourism development, regional cooperation, and staying at the forefront of innovation in a rapidly evolving global industry.
