In recognition of World Tourism Day, Saba Tourism organized a series of activities throughout September as part of Tourism Awareness Month. The activities aimed to increase awareness of the importance of tourism and encourage the community to learn more about Saba’s tourism product, history, and heritage.
Throughout the month, activities included a heritage workshop led by the Saba Heritage Center for tourism partners and the wider community. Sacred Heart School students also took part in several tourism and heritage-related activities. These included coloring activities for the lower grades, visits to the Harry L. Johnson Museum and the Major Osmar R. Simmons Museum, village walking tours with the Saba Heritage Center, and a painting class with local artist Susan Tentholt.
Tourism Awareness Month concluded with a street fair in The Bottom, bringing residents and visitors together for an evening of food, music, and entertainment. Music was provided by Saba’s own DJ Zanderzone and DJ Daddy Slim, along with Entyce International Band. Several vendors participated in the event, offering a variety of food for sale, including local dishes.
By involving students, tourism partners, and the wider community, Tourism Awareness Month provided opportunities to strengthen appreciation for Saba’s history, culture, and tourism industry while highlighting the role everyone can play in preserving and promoting the island as a destination.
Saba Tourism thanks all partners, participants, vendors, performers, students, teachers, and community members who contributed to the activities throughout Tourism Awareness Month.
