On Saturday, October 3, the Executive Council of the Public Entity Saba hosted a gathering for Sabans residing in the Netherlands. The gathering brought together members of the Saban community from different parts of the Netherlands and provided an opportunity to reconnect and meet with members of the Executive Council and Island Council.
Island Council Member Vito Charles welcomed those in attendance and thanked them for taking the time to attend the gathering. He emphasized the importance of community and maintaining connections among Sabans living in the Netherlands before handing the floor to Island Governor Jocelyn Levenstone.
Island Governor Jocelyn Levenstone addressed the gathering and expressed his appreciation to everyone who took the time to attend. Reflecting on his transition into his new role, Governor Levenstone acknowledged that while he knew one Saba, he is now learning and getting to know a different Saba as Island Governor.
Governor Levenstone also recognized that many Sabans living abroad have experienced a similar change, having known a Saba that has evolved over the years. He emphasized that learning and understanding the community is an ongoing process.
Following the Governor’s remarks, members of the Executive Council and Island Council had the opportunity to engage with attendees and hear about their experiences living in the Netherlands, as well as their continued connections to Saba.
The Public Entity Saba thanks everyone who attended and contributed to making the gathering a meaningful occasion. The Public Entity Saba remains committed to maintaining meaningful relationships with Sabans living abroad and recognizing the important role they continue to play in the wider Saban community.
