Tropical Weather Update for August 10, 2024

Public Entity Saba wishes to inform all residents of the tropical wave currently strengthening over the Atlantic. The wave is forecasted to impact our island beginning late Monday and continue through Wednesday, with the most intense weather currently expected on Tuesday.

Expected Conditions:
Rainfall: Periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms, with an accumulation of 1-2 inches.
Wind: Sustained wind speeds of 32-40 KM/H (20-25 MPH) with gusts possibly reaching 56-80 KM/H (35-50 MPH).


Safety Precautions:

  • Prepare for Tropical Storm Conditions: Ensure your property is secure and remove any objects that could become hazardous in high winds or taken by fast moving waters. Don't forget to secure your garbage bins.
  • Exercise Caution on Roads: If you must be on the roads, drive carefully, and be alert for fast-moving water, rockfalls, or mudslides.
  • Unplug Electronic Devices: To protect your electronics from potential lightning strikes, unplug them during thunderstorms.
