Applications for Taxi Licenses

The Executive Council of the Public Entity Saba would like to inform the public of the following:

This Public Notice invites applications for taxi licenses to operate taxi services on Saba. These are not employment positions with the Public Entity Saba.

Do you have a passion for tourism and want to contribute to our tourism sector?

Tourism plays a big role in the island’s economy and as we prepare for the high season, transportation is a priority. The Public Entity invites applications for one full-time taxi license and one-on call taxi license from persons who would like to become part of the transportation providers and serve as ambassadors for the island while providing exceptional service to the tourists who visit us.

A taxi driver is someone who has a passion for working in the tourism industry, is reliable, flexible, representable, has good communication and customer service skills, is a great storyteller, and knows Saba well.

A full-time taxi driver considers taxi driving their primary occupation and is consistently available to provide taxi services throughout the day. They should have the flexibility and availability to respond to transportation needs from visitors, residents, the Tourism Office, and tourism partners as required.

An on-call taxi driver provides taxi services in addition to their regular employment or primary occupation. They are available to provide transportation services outside of their regular working hours, upon request from the Tourism Office or a tourism partner.

The request for a license must be sent in writing to the Executive Council and contain at least the following:
  • Full name, date of birth, birth place, address and nationality of the applicant;

  • The description of the vehicle (s), the applicant has or expects to have, stating the number of persons that the vehicle(s) is equipped to transport;

  • Medical certificate deeming the driver competent to operate a motor vehicle;

  • Valid driver’s license, Saba ID, insurance, and license plate.

In addition, applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Be at least 21 years of age;

  • Be fluent in English;

  • Have good knowledge of Saba, including its history, popular sites and tourism offerings;

  • Have been residing on Saba for at least two years.
