Health Certificates
A Health Certificate is a document issued by the government veterinarian that certifies that your pet is healthy and meets travel or import/export requirements.
When is it required?
- Any time you are traveling off island with your pet.
- Required by airlines, ferries, and destination countries
How long is it valid?
- Certificates are valid for 14 days from the date of issue.
What are the fees?
- $25 for the first animal
- $15 for each additional animal
- Fees are to be paid at the Receivers Office in The Bottom.
How to request?
- Contact the government veterinarian at anne.kornijenko@sabagov.nl or call 416-5879 to schedule an appointment, as early as possible before your trip to make sure all requirements are met.
- Appointments are available on Mondays from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Bring proof of up-to-date vaccinations, microchip and payment receipt at the appointment.
- Appointments must be scheduled in advance.
Additional Tips
- Check airline or ferry company requirements before traveling.
- Verify the pet import requirements of your destination country.
- Please note that the health certificate fee includes a health exam, and the certification. Vaccinations and deworming cost extra.
- The minimum age for an animal to travel is 15 weeks old, with a valid rabies vaccine.
