Weather Update: 12:30 PM on October 8th, 2025

Update on passing tropical wave & Tropical Storm Jerry:

The thunderstorms that developed during the night and continues are the result of a separate tropical wave and not associated with Tropical Storm Jerry.

The unsettled weather is expected to persist with the approach of Tropical Storm Jerry, with periods of heavy rain likely between Thursday afternoon and Friday evening. Rainfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are possible, which may lead to flash flooding, falling rocks, and lightning strikes in vulnerable areas. Marine conditions are also expected to deteriorate, with rough seas forecast and a small chance of wave heights reaching 8 to 10 feet, especially early Friday.

Residents are advised to exercise caution on the roads. During thunderstorms, it is strongly recommended to unplug electronic devices to protect against potential lightning strike damage. Additionally, ahead of TS Jerry, we also highly encourage residents to secure their trash cans by placing them in secure locations or tieing them down.

Regarding Tropical Storm Jerry, a Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Saba. Although the likelihood of tropical storm-force winds has decreased significantly to around 12 percent, gusty winds and rough seas are still possible. The storm is forecast to pass approximately 140 miles northeast of Saba and St. Eustatius, with its closest approach expected around 2:00 AM AST on Friday.

The airport remains open, but passengers are advised to contact their airline directly for the latest flight information and potential delays.
