Hiking & Outdoor Safety Measures

The Public Entity Saba is committed to promoting safe and responsible hiking for both residents and visitors. As part of this commitment, we highlight best practices while exploring and enjoying the island’s natural beauty.

Safety First
Your safety and the safety of those with you is the top priority. Always be prepared and plan accordingly before setting out.

Take Responsibility
Use the buddy system: Never hike alone.
Inform someone of your plans and expected return time.
Be aware that cell service is not guaranteed in all areas of the island.

Camping Regulations
Do not camp just anywhere. Choose your location carefully with respect to both your safety and the surrounding environment.
You must obtain permission from landowners before camping on private property.
Take proper precautions to ensure you leave no trace and preserve Saba’s natural beauty.

Monthly trail advisories
are issued to highlight potential hazards and restrictions on Saba’s hiking trails. These may include notices about hunting activities, trail closures due to landslides, rockfalls, or other safety concerns.

The most up-to-date information can be found on the Saba Tourism website. Please refer to the following link for the June–July Trail Advisory: https://www.sabatourism.com/scf-trail-advisory_junejuly-2025/
