Escorted Transportation - Harbor to Airport

With the ongoing operations for the Mt. Scenery Tower project, the Ministry of Defence will be transporting Jet-A fuel (helicopter fuel) from the harbour to the airport for the entire duration of the project. This will begin from today.

The fuel will be transported by a local contractor on the road, in the early morning and in the evening when there is less traffic on the road. The transport of the fuel is expected to happen multiple times a week, depending on the amount of flights possible. The transport will be escorted, and sufficient and appropriate fire extinguishers and spill absorbing materials are present in the vehicle.

Storage will take place in secured, designated areas equipped with appropriate safety systems, including fire protection, spill containment materials, and clear hazard signage.  All activities, from arrival at the port to final delivery at the airport, will be carried out under controlled conditions.

We ask the public to drive with caution and to follow instructions from the escort car when approaching the vehicles
