This project aims to improve the functionality and safety of the building, which serves both as a center for after-school activities and as an official hurricane shelter for the community.
Phase one of the project began last month and includes structural and interior improvements. This involved removing and replacing floor tiles, demolishing interior walls to create more usable space, installing showers, and renovating toilets and plumbing systems. New walls are also being installed, followed by painting to refresh and modernize the interior.
Plans are now in place to commence phase two of the renovations. This next stage will focus on upgrading the kitchen and office areas, including new tiling throughout and the construction of a wall to divide the two spaces. This will provide children with an additional dedicated activity area, as the kitchen will become more functional for cooking classes. An area will also be fitted with new flooring, making it a comfortable and suitable location for dance classes in the future.
Public Entity Saba remains committed to investing in the well-being of the island’s youth and ensuring spaces meet both functional and safety standards.
