The Public Entity Saba plans for a comprehensive interior upgrade of the island's library, bringing improvements that will make the space more welcoming, functional, and comfortable for everyone in the community.
The planned upgrades include new furniture and seating, refreshed flooring, walls, and paint, updated lighting throughout, and a brand-new double door entrance. The interior will also feature custom-built cabinetry designed specifically for the space, along with enclosed reading pods — dedicated, quiet areas where visitors can focus, study, or simply enjoy a good book.
“This upgrade is a significant investment in the future of our community," said Head Librarian Tiffany Zagers. "The Queen Wilhelmina Library is more than just a place for books; it is a space where people of all ages come to learn, connect, and grow. These improvements will create a more comfortable, modern, and welcoming environment for students, families, and visitors, while ensuring that the library continues to serve as an important educational and cultural hub for Saba for many years to come.”
Work is set to begin in the upcoming weeks, and is expected to be completed by the end of August — meaning the refreshed library will be ready to welcome the community when the new school year gets underway. Please note that the library will be closed to the public from Friday June 19th for the duration of the project.
The upgrade is jointly funded by the Ministry of OCW and the Public Entity Saba, reflecting a shared commitment to investing in public facilities and educational resources for the people of Saba.
The Queen Wilhelmina Library is located in The Bottom and is open to all residents and visitors of Saba.
