The training, delivered by the Conflict Resolution and Mediation Centre (CRMC) of Trinidad and Tobago, focused on the foundations of effective mediation. Participants explored topics such as understanding conflict styles, communication and listening techniques, emotional awareness, cultural sensitivity, and strategies for reaching mutually acceptable agreements. Practical exercises, role plays, and group discussions guided participants through the full mediation process—from initial engagement to resolution.
Employees from several departments participated, including Community Development, Legal Affairs, Airport Operations, Human Resources, Finance, and Information Services, reflecting the cross-organizational importance of these skills.
Certificates of successful completion were presented by Island Secretary Bram Streppel, who commended participants for their commitment to professional growth and to fostering a healthier workplace culture.
The workshop forms part of Public Entity Saba’s broader Learning and Development program and serves as the first phase of a structured mediation training trajectory. Building on this foundation, additional awareness training and advanced practical mediation training is planned for 2026, allowing participants to further develop hands-on skills.
“Conflict can arise in any work environment,” shared representatives from HRM and Learning & Development. “Equipping our employees with mediation, conflict resolution and communication skills helps prevent escalation, strengthens teamwork, and supports more effective public service delivery. We look forward to expanding this program in the coming year.”
