Also in attendance were several policy and program officers from various departments who have been actively involved in Saba’s digitalization efforts over the past two years.
The discussion centered around the digitalization priorities outlined in the 'Saba Package'. The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) acknowledged and praised Saba's substantial progress across multiple areas, including information security, internet connectivity, decision-making processes, information management, transparency, and accountability. BZK highlighted Saba’s practical approach and collaborative spirit as key drivers behind the island’s rapid and successful digital transformation.
In response, the Public Entity Saba expressed its appreciation for the financial and project-based support received from the Dutch government. This support, particularly through the 'Work Agenda Value-Driven Digitalization' initiated by former State Secretary Van Huffelen and the 'Saba Package', has enabled Saba to build a sustainable and future-proof digital infrastructure. These efforts have strengthened the island’s ability to deliver efficient digital services to both citizens and businesses through a reliable digital administration.
The meeting also included a forward-looking discussion on critical topics such as structural capacity beyond 2030. Emphasis was placed on the need to secure long-term continuity, maintain high standards of quality, and foster knowledge development. Upcoming implementations, including the integration of BSN, DigiD, base registries, and standardized information security protocols, are set to build upon the digital foundation established thus far, further advancing the digitalization goals of the Public Entity Saba.
