In 2023, the Public Entity Saba and the Ministry agreed on a Policy Agenda and a Letter of Intent Housing and Spatial Planning. These agreements focus on creating more affordable housing in a pleasant and safe living environment.
During the execution of the Letter of Intent, a number of issues have been identified which limit the construction of affordable housing on Saba. These issues, such as project financing, the availability of land, the capacity of the local construction sector and the local banking system were discussed during the meeting.
PES and the ministry agreed to draw up an Action List Housing Construction that aims at tackling these specific issues that impact the much-need development of more affordable housing on Saba.
